A two-person shop
Pierre's Scrub Shop was a small-batch maker of handmade bath products, run by Roberto Pierre Roque and Brandy Roque. It opened with a short selection of bath bombs while its first soaps cured, then released a signature series of soaps together with two limited editions, Sea Salt & Lavender and Autumn Fig.
“We would never sell something that we wouldn’t use ourselves! We personally tested every recipe we made before we decided it should go on our storefront.”
A deliberately short range
The shop was asked more than once why its selection stayed small. Its answer was that a short range was the only way two people could keep the quality up: hours went into creating and testing a batch of soap before it was judged worthy of the storefront.
Only essential oils
The bath bombs were built on one base recipe the shop knew by heart, which kept them consistent from batch to batch. Their scent came only from essential oils, and any colour came from clays or plants that carry that colour naturally. The shop added no fragrances or perfumes.
“There are other big-name companies out there and they have a target audience looking for bright products that change the color of your bath water. That’s not for us! Their bath bombs are extremely fun, but ours are purely 100% functional.”
